Training
The purpose of the pastoral counseling training program is to provide both structured practicum for residents to learn the theory and practice os pastoral counseling and various teaching and supervision opportunities for pastors and interested lay persons to sharpen their skills in pastoral care and counseling.
Here is a present list of training seminars available.
“A Series Training. Clinical Pastoral Training/Education (CPE)
This series is certified by the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (www.cpsp.org) for chaplains. The first unit of CPE (A-01) can also be taken for credit at Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary (www.pbts.net.ph). Each unit is approximately 9 weeks of intensive training and practical ministry. More information is provided in our CPE Brochure

“B” Series. Crisis Care Chaplaincy
B-01 Crisis Care Chaplaincy. This is a certifying program utilizing a contextualized version of the Virginia Baptist Disaster Response Crisis Care Chaplaincy Program. This is approximately 4 days of training.
B-02 Intro to Crisis Care REsponse. A 1-day version of B-01 to provide an overview of the subject.
“C” Series. Pastoral Care and Counseling
C-01 Principles of Pastoral Care. A 1-day introduction to basic concepts of pastoral care and counseling.
C-02 Shepherd in Every Pew. Pastoral care concepts for laity in the church. 1-day.
C-03 Shepherd in Every Classroom. A variation of Shepherd in Every Pew for the school setting. (1-day)
“D” Series. Focus on Children
D-01 Values Training. Retreat-style 1-day training for school children. Integration of faith and life.
D-02 Learning Styles & Integration Steps of Learning. 1/2 day. Principles of modes, styles, and steps in Education theory.
D-03 Parenting Tools. For parents of school-age children. 1/2 day.
D-04 Special Needs Children. Focus on parents of special needs children and those who work with them. 1/2 day.
“E”-Series. Missions Topics
E-01 Missionary Member Care. Focus on the church’s role in taking on a supportive role in missionary member care. 1/2 day.
E-02 Wholistic Community Development. 3-day training in the basic principles of research, formulation, implementation, and evaluation in developmental ministries.
E-03 Cooperatives. Establishing and maintaining cooperatives. 1-day.
E-04 Basic Health for Short-term Missions (STM). 1/2 day training for health, hygiene, and first aid for STMers.
“F” Series. Special Training
This is for specialized training done in partnership with other organizations. This includes things like “Basic Life Saving and First Aid” with Philippine National Red Cross, as well as Livelihood Skills Training.
