OPTIONS
1. Symposium Endowment. Dr. Cesar Espineda, and Theresa Fealey have set up an endowment for the Frank and Viola Farrell Symposium for Pastoral Care and Counseling. This is our biggest yearly event, bringing in experts on pastoral care and counseling to Baguio City for training of counselors, religious leaders, and others in helping professions.
2. CPE Scholarship Endowment. The cost to train a person in one unit of CPE is approximately 15,000 pesos (a little over 300 US dollars). This may not seem like much, but this often is beyond the financial capabilities of those who desire, and need, training in Clinical Pastoral Education. We are setting up scholarships (33%, 50%, and 100% scholarships) for those with passion for pastoral care and counseling, and with financial need.
3. Journal Sponsorship. We intend to publish vol. 1 #1 of our journal of pastoral care and counseling (within the Philippine context) in the next 2 or 3 months. It is meant to be academic, yet accessible, to secular counselors and religious leaders alike. As you might guess, such journals are rarely self-supporting financially, so we welcome those who will come along side to ensure its viability.
4. General Support. We have up to this point been blessed free office space (presently at Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary), volunteer staff, and individuals who share their office equipment. However, even with all of this, there are still costs money to keep the counseling center going. Although we do accept payment for counseling services, we have never turned someone away due to lack of the ability to pay. In fact, most of our counselees receive evaluation, counseling, and referrals free of charge.
5. Material Support. We are expanding our small library with books in the areas of counseling, psychology, pastoral care, psychotherapy, and so forth. We always seek to bridge the gap between “clinical competency” and “spiritual awareness”. Because of this, we are not really looking for “popularized self-help” books (even though some have value. Nor are we looking for narrow books that entirely reject either the spiritual side or the “secular” side of wholistic health entirely. Additionally, we are always in need of office equipment and materials to for training, publications, and more.
